I am not arrogant but a student of history, and whether or not Powell Valley is ever good again I don't know. But to think that will be as good as they once is well "nuts". Just about everyone on here when they can't make a point just start calling people names and changing argument. If you can not see PV for what it is then I can't help you.

I never once called you a name or changed the argument. Go back and read what I have said from the very beginning. I am clearly stating my position from a standpoint of a coaching career. Mark Palmer is a head football coach and will retire that way. If he sees the powell valley job as a step in the right direction and a step up from st paul, he is a wise man.

Will he win state at powell valley if he gets the job? I don't know. You don't either. I remember that Clintwood was 4-6 a few years back and a year or two later they were playing in the state championship. I remember the comments that were made on here that year. People questioning coach mullins and his play calling. Clintwood was done. Golden days were over. Heck, pound beat them that year 14-0. Then, BAM, playing for a state championship.

Don't get me wrong, I detest powell valley baby blue. Not a clintwood fan either. But commons sense and reason need not be thrown out the door just because you are not a fan of that program. You obviously don't like Powell valley. But that don't mean it's not a good move for Palmer. Just apples to apples my friend.

I didnt call you a name; i said its an awful arrogant statement to assume that PV can never be great again.

And it is arrogant; Your whole argument is that PV football is terrible and will never be contenders again, saying 5-5 is as good as it gets, etc...

So dont be a baby when I point out that PV was a state title runner up 6 years ago and Region D champs three years ago. You act like PV has been down for a long time and the talent has totally disappeared. Nobody expects 4 state titles in 6 years like when the Jones' were playing, but PV has been a perennial Region D contender before and after the Jones'. PV didnt start nor will it stop because TJ and JJ are gone.

My point is made fine; PV has made the playoffs every year and been a LPD contender every year since I (and probably you) have been born. You are acting as if PV will never be great again, how in the hell can you know that? Do you have a magic ball? Can you tell the future? Just because PV has had two down years does not mean the program is dead and cannot be ressurected.

So instead of acting like I am flaming you how bout you address the real points? the FACTS I laid out?

and what is PV? if I cant see it for what it is, how bout you share what PV really is? Since a person close to the program and a part of PV football for almost 20 years now has no idea what PV really is, why dont you, an outsider who hates PV, tell me how it really is...........

YOu are right, PV has been down but there are a good group of athletes to work with there right now. Another thing to consider is they have a very tough schedule from the get go. The right person in place and putting the focus on the were the struggle is can produce a better team I believe and get the most out of what is there.

    Re: Football Coach at PV

Trying to figure out how old state titles translates to a new coach that didn't have anything to do with them, shoots him to the front of the pack? Pretty crazy logic. And how is BI some shoe-in? You can say huge turn around, but not anywhere to go but up when you're having winless, 1, 2 win seasons.

And no, PV's days are over, the LPD's days are over. Its not some PV hate talking, consolidation is going to take place and I don't see this return to the glory days that quickly before consolidation- like it matters anyway, all of this will be forgotten(even more so) in a decade.

    Re: Football Coach at PV

Kevin Saunders was the one that facilitated the turnaround at Kelly, BI was just he recipient of what Saunders did. Yes BI has kept it going but hasn't really progressed it any, if Saunders were still there Kelly makes it deep in the playoffs a few times.

    Re: Football Coach at PV

Calm down everyone. I know PV's history. They produced the greatest high school player I ever got to see play (Thomas Jones), I sat in the stands at Norton and saw him run for almost 400 yards. I have been to PV many times. I have rooted for them and against them many times. I saw the PV-Appy game nine straight years, during the nineties and early two thousands. I know PV's place in history, but in two years PV will not exist anymore, they will be ?high in a school consolidation. So in all honesty it really does not matter, you can either see it or you can't. I just hope that Norton doesn't join so they can play A football, because if they do the two schools will AA and that is probably the hardest division to win in VHSL.

    Re: Football Coach at PV

I guess since I couldn't remember exact number I wasn't at game. But whatever. What are the Powell Valley people going to do when it is gone. Meet at Bullitt Park every Friday @ 7:30 and sit in the stands and imagine. Good luck with that. Maybe you and whoever the last coach at Powell Valley is can coach the pretend team to the state title, maybe that's how PV will be that good again, it will be in your mind. Roll Tide.
